and gaze out the window,
I watch the rain -
the quiet, persistent rain.
I realize its beauty -
it falls from the heavens
and washes away
all the problems and sadness
of this passing day.
We don't understand
so we run -
we run
from the rain
as it begins to fall.
But, in reality,
the rain gives us hope
and the promise
of a better day to come.
The sun will come out -
but only after
the rain has washed away
all the problems and sadness
of this passing day.
Stolen line: "the quiet, persistent rain"
from "The Rain" by Robert Creeley
